Francis Lawrence discusses possibility of more 'The Hunger Games' movies!

Talking to Empire magazineMockingjay director Francis Lawrence has given fans an incredible treat that we’d like to focus on from the feature released yesterday. Just like Harry Potter has spawned off the new trilogy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Francis says that there is a possibility of further stories set in Panem.

“It’s a tough thing. It’s a weird thing,” says Lawrence. “That world of Harry Potter, there’s a lot to that world that you can explain. You can understand the appeal of telling another story, but can you actually do it without Harry, Hermione and those characters? Will people care as much? And I guess you can say the same thing about the Hunger Games world. There are a lot of past games and a lot of this world, but without Katniss, is it the same? Part of what I like about the series is the connection to things we think about and talk about now. What’s the new version of that? That would be the tricky thing.”

I, for one, am pretty excited about this idea! Not only could we explore previous Games, and what went on in the making of characters like Haymitch Abernathy, or Beetee, but it will also give us an insight into the country of Panem, as it was before Katniss Everdeen. Of course, this is just wishful thinking right now.

But who knows? Francis may be right in that the commercial success of the movie perhaps started with Jennifer Lawrence, and might not be the same.

What do you think? Whose story would you like to be told?
