The financial publication, Forbes, has released its list of the Highest Earning Actresses in Hollywood, which is topped by Gravity star Sandra Bullock.
The Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence lands on the second position, with a $34 million earning thanks to the franchise. She’s also ranked 12th on the Celebrity 100 list which measures a mix of earning and fame.
Who says women can’t be action heroes? Just 23 years old, Lawrence is proving that women can be as big a draw for blockbusters as men. “The Hunger Games” is the most successful young adult franchise since “Twilight” and her recent turn as Mystique in “X-Men: Days of Future Past” helped make the movie the highest-grossing of the franchise. Combine that box office prowess with three Oscar nominations and one win and you have the most powerful actresses in Hollywood.
Forbes explains how it creates the list:
To come up with our earnings estimates we talked to agents, producers, lawyers and other in-the-know folks to figure out how much each celebrity earned from entertainment-related work during our 12 month time period. We didn’t deduct for taxes, agent fees or the other costs of being a celebrity.
Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow rank third and fourth on the list. Rounding it off, Angelina Jolie and Cameron Diaz tie for the fifth place.
