Elizabeth Banks recently did an interview with Cosmopolitan where she talked about Pitch Perfect 2, Mockingjay, Jennifer Lawrence eating her birthday cake and Philip Seymour Hoffman. You can read her interview below.
On a daily basis, Elizabeth Banks is either 1) hanging out with Anna Kendrick, 2) hanging out with Jennifer Lawrence, and/or 3) generally being Effie-rvescent (yup, I went there). While promoting her Listerine fundraiser for Smiles Across America, Elizabeth answered some questions about her upcoming (aca-awesome) projects (K, done).
Everyone is so excited about Pitch Perfect 2 — Why did you choose this as your directorial debut (as if we even have ask)?
I was an on-set producer in the first film, and I was involved since inception and this time around I’ll be taking on a lot more responsibility of getting behind the camera. I’m really excited to get back with the girls and put out a movie that has as much joyfulness and laughter and humor and great music as the first film!!
If you could pick one song to mash-up for PP2, what would it be?
Oh goodness. I really loved “No Diggity” in the first film, we’ve been talking a lot about old-school rap, so it’d probably be some old-school, maybe early LL Cool J because you know ladies love Cool J.
So, speaking of things that ladies love, give us some inside scoop about hanging with JLaw?
Well, recently everyone surprised me on the set of Mockingjay with a birthday cake! That was really fun. And, of course, the first person to delve into my cake was Jennifer. I will say she’s a girl who likes to eat and I love that about her.
As far as the Hunger Games go, are there any surprises hardcore fans of the book won’t see coming?
Honestly, I can’t say anything about Mockingjay! Ahhh!! We’ll both end up hurt somewhere! I think the hardcore fans can expect exactly what both The Hunger Games and Catching Fire delivered, Mockingjay is going to be as faithful a rendition of Suzanne’s Collins’s world and books and characters as we can put out!
And what was it like to work with Philip Seymour Hoffman?
I’d really rather not discuss it. He was an incredible actor that I respected greatly and I will miss tremendously.
Do you have any beauty advice for twentysomethings who are traveling for interviews or are constantly on the road? You’re definitely doing a lot of that!
You know it’s all about hydration, especially in the winter!!! I’m all about water water water water water. I really find that when I get on an airplane, I never drink anything but water and I drink a ton of it. I like to sit in the window, but I’m always climbing over people to go to the bathroom. I’m that seatmate. But ya gotta do it. All about the water.
